Introducing Tag - the amazing touch reading system that brings to life reading like never before.

Perfectly sized for little hands, the Tag™ Reader is a touch-and-talk reading device that brings stories to life like never before and offers insights into what your child is learning.  As children touch the Tag Reader to the pages of specially printed storybooks, a small camera in the tip "reads" the pages, enabling children to hear words and stories read aloud.  Characters, pictures and learning activities spring to life with every touch, immersing children in the thrill of reading.

Designed for children four to eight, the Tag Reading System works with a broad library of more than 20 books and games.  Children can explore clasic books such as Olivia and The Little Engine That Could, or join popular characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Ariel the Little Mermaid in new reading adventures.  Leveled learning activities in every book adjust automatically to your child's pace, helping build confidence and a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.

Amazingly easy to use, the Tag Reader holds audio for up to five books at a time.  Simply connect the Tag Reader to your computer with the included USB cable, download the audio for your Tag books and drag-and -drop up to five of your children's favorite stories onto your Tag Reader.

While online, you can also see your children's progress in recent books, get detailed updats on the skills they are exploring and share in their accomplishments by creating a free LeapFrog® Learning Path.  The Tag Reading System is one of three new LeapFrog Connected learning systems that connect to the LeapFrog Learning Path, empowering you to get regular insights into your child's learning.

Learning Skills

  • Reading comprehension
    • Reading comprehension

As children build reading and vocabulary skills, they begin to construct meaning from text. Eventually, they learn to apply critical skills to make inferences and draw conclusions.

  • Vocabulary
    • Vocabulary

Infants and toddlers learn vocabulary by memory. Later, children use word structure and context to help understand the meaning of a word. They identify synonyms and antonyms. They use prefixes, suffixes and base words to build their own vocabulary.

  • Book basics
    • Book basics

A child's early experiences with books greatly influence his ability to learn to read. Even before he knows his ABCs, you can teach him how to handle a book and spark his interest in stories.

  • Phonics skills
    • Phonics skills

To learn to read, a child must understand the letter-sound relationship and distinguish individual sounds, or phonemes, within words. Crucial to reading, phonics skills help children sound out new words (If I can read "pot," then I can read "hot" and "spot").

  • Rhyming
    • Rhyming

The act of rhyming directs a child's attention to the similarities in words (hat sounds like cat). Because sensitivity to rhyme comes quite naturally, it is an excellent entry into phonological awareness, or the ability to distinguish individual sounds in words.

  • Letter names
    • Letter names

Young children typically recite or sing the alphabet before they recognize individual letters. By preschool they begin to identify letters by name and shape.

  • Spelling
    • Spelling

Children first learn to spell by breaking down words into sounds. But many sounds in our language have irregular spellings. Children must learn the fundamental spelling rules and recognize commonly misspelled words.
